If you’re having a plumbing issue in your bathroom, you may be tempted to try a DIY repair job. But we discourage this because problems can be worse than they appear at first. When you need help with bathroom plumbing in Aubrey, TX, give our team a call.

We have certified plumbing experts that can get to the root of your plumbing problem, fix it, and hopefully prevent it from happening again in the future. In the meantime, you can keep reading to learn more about the three most common plumbing problems that we see.

Clogged Drains

One of the most common problems that we see is clogged drains. Whether it’s your sink or your tub, a clogged drain is a serious problem. You may first notice a clogged drain when your sink or tub begins to drain water more slowly. It is important to address a drain clog early before it has a chance to get worse.

You may be tempted to buy a chemical drain cleaner at your local hardware store, but we strongly discourage this. Sure, those chemicals are strong enough to partially break up clogs in your drain. But they are also damaging your pipes and plumbing fixtures.

In fact, drain cleaning chemicals can actually leave behind a residue that makes it more likely that you’ll have clogs again in the future, as contradictory as this sounds. Plus, they can corrode your plumbing if you use them often, possibly leading to the need for plumbing replacements down the line.

Instead of buying caustic drain chemicals, we encourage you to give our team a call to troubleshoot the drain clog. Sometimes drain clogs are closer to your sink or tub, but other times they are deeper and your plumbing system. If you’re having clogs in more than one drain, that’s a sign of a deeper problem.

Running Toilet

Another common problem we see is a toilet that runs and just won’t stop. You can tell that your toilet is running if you hear water flow after your toilet finishes flushing. After flushing your toilet, water does run for about a minute as the tank refills. But you should not hear water running again until you flush the toilet another time. If you do hear water running, it means that your toilet is using water unnecessarily.

This may not seem like a huge problem, but a running toilet can use thousands of gallons of water per month and cost you a lot on your monthly water bill. You definitely want to get a running toilet fixed sooner rather than later.

Low Water Pressure

We also receive a lot of complaints about low water pressure. If your home has hard water with high mineral content, you may not even know it. You can’t see these minerals with your naked eye, but the particles can build up in your plumbing system slowly over time. Mineral buildup can cause low water pressure because the mineral builds up behind the mesh covering on faucets, allowing less water through at a time.

The good news is, this is an easy fix. We can simply take off these mesh faucet covers, rinse them out, and reattach them. But if hard water is a problem as far as water pressure, then it is likely having a negative effect on the rest of your plumbing system. You may want to consider installing a water filtration system that eliminates minerals from hard water before water ever enters your home.

Get it done right… Right now!
